Electronic Poker is a popular game that can be bet on in casinos around the globe, or alternatively at home on your PC, through a net connection. The game rules are absolutely straightforward and involve the player attempting to get the greatest assemblage of cards achievable in order to win money. In this respect it’s much the same as a normal game of poker, minus the line of contact with competing players. Of course, techniques used in a real-life game of poker, like tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.

The game of Video Poker starts when the enthusiast inserts credits (whether it is tokens, tickets or money) into the machine and pushes the deal button. A hand of five cards will be electronically ‘given out’ on the video screen.

The Video Poker machine also has hold buttons, and enthusiasts should now pick which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the bettor would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they wish, from all to none.

After the gambler has selected which cards she would like to retain, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards will be given out if desired. The round is now finished, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the payout schedule.

Typically, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It goes without saying that the pay out schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that skillful gamblers are able to choose the most money-making machine each time.

Once the initial round has completed, the player can either choose to continue on and try to to maximize their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that they may have won. Further, some versions of the game allow the player a chance to increase their wins, in which instance a further hand is played. There are also variations between individual games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing aspects to increase playability.
