Electronic Poker is a popular game that is able to be enjoyed in casinos throughout the world, or in your house on your PC, through a web connection. The game rules are very straightforward and consist of the player trying to get the best assemblage of cards possible in order to acquire cash. In this respect it is much the same as a classic game of poker, without the line of contact with any other players. The game of Video Poker starts when the enthusiast inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the video poker machine and presses the draw button. A hand of five cards will be electronically ‘distributed’ on the screen.

The Electronic Poker machine also has hold buttons, and enthusiasts should now choose which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the enthusiast wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they want, from all to none.

After the enthusiast has chosen which cards he would like to retain, they should press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards are needed they will be dealt. The game is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the pay out schedule.

Normally, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It definitely goes without saying that the pay out schedule can change from machine to machine, so that experienced gamblers are agile enough to choose the most beneficial machine each and every time.

As soon as the initial round has played out, the player can either choose to stay on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that has been won. Further, some styles of the game allow the gambler an opportunity to increase their wins, in which case another game is played. There are also variations between specific games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other varying characteristics to enhance playability.
